Air Sampler Monitoring (Particulate)

Teledyne API

Teledyne API Model 602 BetaPLUS Particle Measurement System

Teledyne API has blended the needs of both government agencies and health effects researchers into a single new instrument, the Model 602 BetaPLUS Particle Measurement System. The instrument uses a dual-channel approach for the simultaneous measurement of PM10 and PM2.5, and PMC (PM Coarse) through the subtraction of the two measured parameters.

The instrument is designed for autonomous, continuous ambient air quality monitoring. It can operate unattended for 15 to 48 days, depending upon configuration and environmental conditions at the site. Each sampling cycle includes the storage of 60 individual data parameters, including both measurement data and diagnostic information. These parameters can be viewed in real-time with the included remote communications package, or sent directly to a digital data acquisition system for automatic interpretation and validation. Additionally, a service log is kept in a separate data buffer for more in-depth analysis of maintenance or service needs. There is a capacity for 1.5 years of continuous hourly data storage within these internal data buffers.

  • TE-20-800 Ambient air sampler, particulate sizing instrument, Ambient non-Viable Cascade Sampler Impactor

The Tisch Ambient Eight-Stage Cascade Impactor is an aluminum alloy mechanical inertial separator designed to aerodynamically separate ambient particulate into multi fractions in the range of 10?m AED (Aerodynamic Equivalent Diameter) to filtration collection of sub-micron particles 0 to 0.43?m. Use of a Pre-Impactor Size Selective Inlet (High-Capacity Pre-Separator) is used when applications with larger than 9.0?m AED particles are present. The Pre- Separator is designed to remove large particles, which due to inertial energy can cause particle-bounce inside a classical Cascade Impactor and be measured incorrectly. The Pre-Separator is a large capacity, single-jet impactor where the total suspended particulate air sample is drawn in through a single inlet nozzle, accelerated, and only particles <9.0?m AED exit to be further aerodynamically separated in the Cascade Impactor Stages.

The Tisch Model 20-800 series of Cascade Impactors are designed for applications in ambient air where Non-Viable (Non-Biological) aerosol is to be collected and measured for its concentration by aerodynamic particle size. The concentration of particulate is calculated by pre and post weighing of the 81mm sample substrates located below each Orifice Stage. As particles pass through each successively smaller diameter orifice stage the sample rate is accelerated. As the aerosol exits each orifice it will curve around the impaction sample substrate. Particles which have an aerodynamic diameter and inertia that can not stay in the sample air stream break free from the flow and collect by impaction onto the sample substrate. By subsequently making the orifice diameter smaller on each Stage of the Cascade Impactor, the particles are increased in velocity and the aerodynamic separation of particles over a large range can be determined.

  • High-Capacity Pre-impactor ensures accurate separation of large particles.

  • High Sample Flow-Rate of 28.3 ALPM

  • Size separation from >9nm to <0.3nm

  • Optional volumetric flow-controlled vacuum system

  • BGI Incorporated

BGI PQ200 Ambient Fine Particulate Sampler

BGI Incorporated produces the PQ200 Ambient PM2.5Federal Reference Method (FRM) and FRM "Portable Audit" Sampling Systems. The PQ200 is designed to meet exacting criteria for collecting 24-hour samples of ambient "Fine Particulate," according to the U.S. National Ambient Air Quality Standards (NAAQS), published July 18, 1997.

BGI has developed the Very Sharp Cut Cyclone (VSCC) which replaces the WINS impactor and allows 30 days between cleaning intervals. Further details may be viewed on an individual page. Existing PQ200 samplers may be converted.

PM2.5(particles less than 2.5 micrometers in aerodynamic diameter) is collected on 47 mm PTFE membrane media at a volumetric sample rate of 16.67 Lpm after being size discriminated through two U.S. EPA designed inertial separators. Ambient temperature and barometric pressure measurements are made at actual sample conditions. A microprocessor and sophisticated volumetric flow control system are integrated to maintain precise sampling parameters while sampling data are continuously logged into the processor memory. Five minute actual ambient temperature and pressure conditions with volumetric sample flow rate, filter temperature, and pressure are recorded. Measured values and identification of flags indicating any anomalies are recovered by the operator by downloading a sample summary to a laptop or handheld computer. EPA's audit program makes exclusive use of the PQ200A version of the sampler. This item is available to all authorities and individuals who wish to sample or audit under EPA stringent guidelines.

    Features

  • Single channel design for maximum reliability and portability

  • Friendly operator interface and easy data collection and downloading

  • Includes built-in 12-volt DC battery power system charger (U.L. approved)

  • Adv1anced flow control system

  • Download software included
  • AIR metrics

    MiniVol TAS

Airmetrics manufactures the MiniVol™ TAS, which samples ambient air at 5 liters/minute for particulate matter (PM10, PM2.5, TSP). While not a reference method sampler, the MiniVol™ TAS gives results that closely approximate data from Federal Reference Method samplers. Lightweight and portable, the MiniVol™ TAS is ideal for remote areas or locations where no permanent site has been established

The MiniVol™ portable air sampler can be configured to collect either PM2.5, PM10, or TSP samples - but only one type at a time.

The MiniVol's pump draws air at 5 liters/minute through a particle size separator (impactor) and then through a 47mm filter. The 10 micron or 2.5 micron particle separation is achieved by impaction, or a TSP sample can be collected by removing the impactor(s). Gas samples can be taken simultaneously with particulate matter samples.
